The first step to getting Kybella in Cincinnati is to contact us and schedule your consultation. When you come in, you will be able to meet with Dr. Shelli Ridge and ask any questions you have about the treatment, she will examine your chin and come up with a plan that will work best for you. Once she collects all the information she needs, a treatment plan will be made for you and if you agree with the plan, our Patient Coordinator will be able to help you schedule your treatment.
Before your procedure begins, Dr. Ridge will mark the injection sites with a marker and administer a topical numbing agent or ice pack to ease any pain or discomfort. Then, she will make multiple injections under your chin, usually 20 to 30, but could be up to 50. The acid in the injections then gradually kills the fat cells, which are metabolized by the body over the following weeks.
The average recovery time for Kybella can take between 48 hours to two weeks, depending on the patient. We highly recommend that you schedule your treatment before the weekend so that you can have at least 2 days of recovery time. Many patients have some swelling and bruising following their Kybella treatment, which should disappear after a few days, but there could be some minor swelling for up to 2 weeks. You may also have a “jelly”-like feeling or extra firmness for a few weeks.
To minimize swelling, we recommend you avoid consuming salt or alcohol for a few days before and after the treatment. You should also stay well-hydrated and ice the area intermittently for a few hours after your procedure.
