What Is Hormone Replacement Therapy?

Hormone Replacement Therapy (HRT, sometimes referred to menopausal hormone therapy) is a treatment created to aid those suffering extreme menopausal symptoms. It can also be a great treatment to protect you against osteoporosis.

At our MedSpa in Cincinnati, we use HRT Pellets, which our founder Dr. Shelli Ridge feels provides the best results. HRT Pellets are a blended mix of estrogen or testosterone made from natural plant products. These plant materials have the same molecular structure as the hormones in our body and are compounded into small pellets, which have the appearance of grains of rice. When placed underneath the skin, the pellet slowly releases hormones directly into your bloodstream and provides hormonal balance.

What are the benefits of Hormone Replacement Therapy?

Since our hormones play such a crucial role in all aspects of our bodies, so many of our Cincinnati patients have seen the following benefits of receiving HRT:

The benefits of using hyaluronic acid fillers include:

  • Alleviated stress and depression
  • Emotional control
  • Enhanced focus and memory
  • Help decrease/eliminate vaginal dryness
  • Improved bone density and muscular strength
  • Menstrual headaches and migraines
  • Reduced incontinence

The best candidates for hormone replacement therapy in the Cincinnati area are those dealing with the following:

  • Brittle or weak bones
  • Excessive, unexplainable sweating
  • Headaches
  • Irritability and anxiety
  • Long-term fatigue
  • Lowered sex drive
  • Sensitivity to cold or heat
  • Poor sleep
  • Unexplained weight gain or weight loss
  • Very dry skin or skin rashes

Unfortunately, HRT is not for everyone. We can not recommend HRT if you:

  • Might be pregnant
  • Have problems with vaginal bleeding
  • Have had certain kinds of cancers
  • Have had a stroke or heart attack
  • Have had blood clots
  • Have liver disease

Who are the Best Candidates for Hormone Replacement Therapy?

What’s the First Step?

The first step toward getting Hormone Replacement Therapy in Cincinnati is to contact our office and schedule your consultation with one of our technicians. During this appointment, you will be able to express your desires for the treatment and be provided with a detailed explanation of what you will experience and what to expect from your Therapy. After your treatment plan is created, our Patient Coordinator will be able to help you schedule the best date and time for your first session.

What to Expect on the Day of Hormone Replacement Therapy

When you come in for your Hormone Replacement Therapy, your provider will have you lie down, and sterilize the area where the pellet will be inserted. The tiny pellet will then be placed under your skin, usually in the buttocks, in a simple and painless in-office procedure.

Hormone Replacement Therapy Recovery

After the pellet has been inserted, you are free to return to most of your daily activities. A small bandage will be placed over the insertion spot and should be left on for 48 hours. Once removed, you can apply another Band-Aid to stop any drainage.

We highly advise our HRT patients to avoid hot tubs, pools, or baths for the first 3 days, as well as not participate in strenuous activity for the next 3 – 4 days. During your recovery, you might experience some redness, bruising, and tenderness near the treatment area, however, these side effects will subside on their own in about 4 – 14 days. In very rare cases, some patients may experience an infection. If this happens, please contact our clinic as soon as possible because you may need an antibiotic.

How Much Does Hormone Replacement Therapy Cost in Cincinnati?

The cost of Hormone Replacement Therapy in Cincinnati can vary on a number of factors. The best way to find out how much your HRT will cost is to schedule a consultation with one of our technicians. They will be able to assess your needs, create a personal timeline based on those needs, and give you an accurate cost for your therapy.
