Introduction to BOTOX

Nobody likes to look older. While inevitable, there will be a point at which your body will turn on your aspirations and the effects of time will eventually reveal themselves. Thankfully, there is a life hack that can suppress your aging appearance and give you the youthful look that you remember with the extremely popular wrinkle-relaxing injection treatment. What Is BOTOX?

BOTOX and other wrinkle relaxers like it are comprised of a toxin that is used to paralyze certain muscles to reduce facial wrinkles and fine lines. By blocking the chemical signals to your nerves, your muscles won’t contract and create a smoother appearance. In addition to wrinkle and fine-line reduction, BOTOX has also been used to treat the following conditions:

  • Bladder dysfunction
  • Cervical dystonia (involuntary muscle contractions in your neck)
  • Chronic migraines
  • Eye twitching
  • Hyperhidrosis (excessive sweating)
  • Lasy eyes
  • Muscle contractures

The benefits of using hyaluronic acid fillers include:

  • Can improve many health conditions

  • Treatment is non-invasive practically painless

We feel the best candidates for BOTOX or Wrinkle Relaxers in Cincinnati are those with the following characteristics:

  • Have a positive mentality regarding cosmetic enhancements
  • In overall good health
  • Over the age of 18
  • Realistic with your goals from the treatment

Who are the Best Candidates for BOTOX?

Unfortunately, if you have a serious infection or illness, are currently taking medication that can interfere with the BOTOX effects, have thick facial skin or deep scars, or have significant facial asymmetry, or drooping eyelids (ptosis), we can not recommend this treatment for you. If you are uncertain about your candidacy for BOTOX or Wrinkle Relaxers, please come in for a consultation and we will be able to give you a definitive answer.

What’s the First Step?

The first step in getting BOTOX or Wrinkle Relaxers in Cincinnati is to contact our clinic and schedule a consultation. During this appointment, you will meet with either Dr. Shelli Ridge or one of our licensed Aestheticians, to discuss what you are looking to do, you will be asked to discuss your medical history, and your face will be examined. Together, the two of you will decide which injectable is best for you. Once all of the information they need is collected, your treatment plan will be created. If you agree with this plan, we can perform your treatment right away. If for any reason you would like to think about it some more or just need more time in general, you can schedule an appointment with our Patient Coordinator.

What to Expect on the Day of BOTOX

When you’re ready for your BOTOX treatment, you will be able to do it right there in our Medical Spa. Most treatments require no anesthetics due to the needles being so fine that any pain is minimal, however, we can offer you a topical numbing cream or nerve blocker to make your experience more tolerable. As the toxin is injected, you may temporarily feel the fluid under your skin, but this feeling should subside momentarily. Each injected site will take a few moments a piece, after which you and the Aesthetician will examine the results. Once finished, we will offer you an ice pack to minimize swelling and alleviate any discomfort.

Your treatment will take about 20 – 30 minutes to be performed.

BOTOX Recovery

After your treatment, you may experience some redness, minor bruising, or irritation around the injection sites for about 12 – 24 hours. In some cases, some more serious side effects include dizziness, difficulty swallowing, double vision, or drooping/ swollen eyelids. You will be able to feel your face after the injection as neuromuscular toxins only paralyze motor nerve communication, not sensory nerves, meaning your skin will not go numb in that area.

You should avoid touching the areas of injection because it can cause the fluid to migrate to another side, creating an undesirable effect like an eyelid droop. You should be able to resume wearing makeup the next day as you will want to avoid touching, rubbing, or massaging the injection site for the first 24 hours.

You will be able to notice changes in your face about two to four days after the injection, but the full results will take about 8 – 10 days. While every patient will have a different experience, you should be able to enjoy the results for about four to six months. As your body naturally absorbs the toxin over time, you will need a touch-up if you enjoyed the appearance BOTOX has given you.

How Much Does BOTOX Cost in Cincinnati?

The cost of BOTOX in Cincinnati is based on multiple factors, including which wrinkle relaxer you use, how much is needed, and the location of the injection site. The best way to find out how much this treatment will be for you is to come in for your consultation and meet with Dr. Ridge. After your treatment plan is created, you will have a better idea of what’s in store, and our Patient Coordinator will be able to give you a price breakdown.
