Introduction to PDO Thread Lifts

It’s well-known that the quality of our skin declines with age, with our skin growing lax and revealing more fine lines, wrinkles, jowls, and sagging skin, among other issues. Although Facelifts can tighten your skin and make you look a lot younger, intensive surgery is not everyone’s cup of tea, and typically comes with an extensive recovery time. When you choose Elite Medicine for your Cincinnati PDO Thread Lift, you can rest assured that we will do everything in our power to provide you with safe and satisfying results.

We are thrilled to inform our Cincinnati patients that there is another option! The Mint PDO thread lift is a fantastic alternative to traditional facelifts. Repositioning the underlying tissue in your face, softens your features and produces longer-lasting results than dermal fillers, without complicated surgery, incisions, or extended downtime.

What are PDO Threads?

MINT™ (Minimally Invasive Nonsurgical Thread) is an absorbable polydioxanone (PDO) barbed suture used in soft tissue approximation and repair. PDO is a safe raw material that has been used for orthopedic and cardiovascular surgery for wound closure for over a decade. It uses a raw material that gets completely absorbed by the body through hydrolysis, causing minimal tissue reaction and tissue trauma.

MINT has been backed by more than 6 years of clinical studies and is the only PDO suture to have received 2 FDA clearances.

What are the benefits of PDO Threads?

Not only will a PDO Thread Lift give you a younger, firmer face and increased self-confidence, but our Cincinnati patients have discovered the following benefits from the procedure:

The benefits of using hyaluronic acid fillers include:

  • Compatible with injectables
  • An excellent alternative to surgical options
  • High tensile strength
  • Instant results
  • Little risk of adverse reaction
  • Long-lasting results
  • Minimal downtime
  • Minimally invasive
  • No incision
  • Repeatable as necessary
  • Softens jowls along the jawline
  • Softens sagging, folding, or hollowing in the mid-face

The ideal candidate for a PDO Thread lift in Cincinnati is any male or female patient between the ages of 20 and 50 who are:

  • Desiring a tighter facial appearance with a chiseled jawline
  • Looking to treat moderate signs of aging, such as jowls, nasolabial folds, and wrinkles around the eyes, mouth, and neck
  • Possessing a skin layer that is not too thin or too thick, and not extremely uneven
  • Wishing to treat droopy eyelids

Most importantly, you should be aware of the time commitment required for this treatment. Most cases may require six treatments over six months to achieve the desired effect.

Who are the Best Candidates for PDO Threads?

What’s the First Step?

If you feel that a PDO Thread Lift in Cincinnati would be best suited for you, the first step is to contact our office and schedule your one-on-one consultation with Dr. Shelli Ridge. During this appointment, you will be able to address any concerns you have, she will examine your face and create the perfect treatment plan for you. After Dr. Ridge makes your personal treatment plan, you will be able to schedule your appointment with our Patient Coordinator.

What to Expect on the Day of PDO Thread lifting

At least 5 days before your procedure, we would advise you to avoid alcohol and tobacco, along with anything else that may increase the risk of bleeding or bruising, such as:

  • Advil and ibuprofen
  • Aspirin
  • Green tea or green tea extracts
  • Omega-3 fatty acids

When you do come in for your procedure, your provider will have you sit in a reclined seat and disinfect your face with alcohol. Then, a local anesthetic will be applied under your skin using a needle. A small incision will be made with another needle, and a cannula will be inserted into the tiny hole. The provider will anchor a thread into place and remove the cannula, finishing up by cutting the thread, and ensuring that the thread is secure.

The whole procedure can last anywhere between 45 and 90 minutes.

PDO Threads Recovery

After your procedure, you will be free to return home and return to most of your daily routines. There will be some swelling and bruising during the first 24-48 hours, but you should look normal again after that.

During the first week, you should do your best to avoid rubbing your face as much as possible to prevent accidentally dislodging the thread. We also recommend avoiding pursing your lips, smoking, or drinking through a straw for the first several weeks.

For the best results, you should sleep with your head propped up on a pillow to avoid sleeping on your side, intensive exercise, and visiting saunas.

How Much Do PDO Threads Cost in Cincinnati?

The cost of a PDO Thread Lift in Cincinnati will vary on several factors, particularly how much work will be needed to be performed. To get an accurate price for your procedure, schedule your consultation and your technician will be able to assess your needs and let you know then.
